About a year ago, I had the idea to write a very short essay each day about something I found beautiful. It would be in a style reminiscent of the poet Frank O’Hara, who used to write poetry on his lunch break, hence his 1964 book Lunch Poems.
Soon after, I forgot about the idea.
In March, one week into quarantine, I remembered and decided it would be a nice thing to try. The title, “Meditations in an Emergency,” is actually borrowed from a Frank O’Hara poem. What can I say, it seems like a good fit.
So, one short thing, once a week. Maybe a picture? That’s about it.
