☞ Khakis. What can I say? A couple weeks ago, I needed new trousers, non-jean pants, and I saw a stylish friend wearing chinos and thought—is it time?

I grew up in a preppy, extremely white town where khakis were the uniform, and I’ve been running away from them ever since—but why not?

I went on a hunt and found a pair I love: Buck Mason’s Paperback Twill Full Saddle Chino. Less volume than the J. Crew giants, but not skinny. Heavy fabric, great cut, good hand. For what it’s worth, other trousers I considered:
