☞ A while ago, I wrote here about how my favorite bag for travel was dying after a decade-plus of service, and I’d replaced it with a small Patagonia duffel. Well, that got returned, and I’ve been on the hunt ever since.

My needs are my own, though I don’t need much. I pack sparely when I travel, maybe to an extreme—most trips I bring little clothing besides what’s on my person. (A bathing suit, spare T-shirts, underwear, maybe sneakers.) Also, the luggage is always carry-on, to be carried on my shoulder. Will I start rolling a case on wheels someday? Someday, sure, but not yet.
