☞ Instant coffee is convenient when you’re backpacking. For car camping, I’ll do a pourover instead (favorite kit below), but in the alpine, when I’m doing an early start or taking a break on the trail, the instants work best for me.

A bunch of these cost a bunch of money—all the ninth-wave roasters figured out there’s a market. Still, here are my favorites—
