The Sunday supplement: #38
Recent media favorites, how I’ve been finding new (old) music, and a newsletter for discovering the weird wide web
I get new music recommendations from all over the place: a friend’s teenage daughter who has a radio show; a recording engineer friend who knows all the new indie; from the latest How Long Gone episode, I discovered gay indie country singer Sam Buck and his new album Out of Control. Really good!
One way I like is to follow restaurant people (David Chang) or fashion brands (Vissla) on Spotify. Also, a lot of DJs share playlists they make for themselves or corporate clients. Philip Quinaz, aka que fancy music, has a playlist series on Spotify called “The Streams of Consciousness” that I steal from a lot, or just play straight if I need new (often old) songs in the house. Here are three favorites.
