So, I don’t love a year-end list, but sometimes they’re fun. Here are a couple I enjoyed:

For years, companies have been making pledges to go “carbon-neutral,” aiming to offset their emissions with tree-planting projects, usually halfway around the world. Carbon offsets are ‘riddled with fraud.’ Can new voluntary guidelines fix that? Solving credibility issues may require a greater overhaul of carbon markets. But offsetting schemes often fail to deliver on what they promise…. Enter carbon insetting, in which companies attempt to remove emissions from within their own supply chains — the string of activities involved in producing and distributing their products.
