First off, it’s wonderful to see a song by someone I know get picked as Pitchfork’s best new track. The song is so good. Congratulations, Jessica!

As to the new season of True Detective, starring Jodie Foster: it is good but it’s not great, it’s intriguing but not sharp, it’s beautifully shot and beguiling but on a story-level it just gets dull and shaggy-dog—and if you feel the same way, luckily HBO/Max has a better show entering its second season that no one is talking about.
