We’ll kick it off with three new albums I’m loving for background music while I write, or late-night drinking outside, or on a long walk Tuesday when I was in a mood, or even during an afternoon workout.

(I’m not sure when this started, but I prefer quiet ambient music for strength training. I’m the guy lifting dumbbells in an Aphex Twin T-shirt who’s actually listening to Aphex Twin.)

  1. Point of Entry by Jonny Nash. Perhaps the most accessible of the trio. Guitar lines, tons of mood, soft colors, piano motifs, the occasional saxophone.
